The short version: Bothways does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. Everything happens on your device. We have no servers, no analytics, and no way to see what you record.
None. Bothways does not collect any personal information, usage data, analytics, crash reports, or device identifiers. The app makes zero network requests.
Bothways requires access to your camera and microphone to record video. This data is processed entirely on your device using Apple's AVFoundation and Vision frameworks. Video frames and audio buffers are never transmitted off-device. Recorded files are saved only to locations you choose (your Photos library).
When you tap "Save to Photos," Bothways requests add-only access to your Photo Library to save the exported landscape and portrait video files. Bothways cannot read, browse, or modify your existing photos or videos.
Bothways uses Apple's Vision framework to detect faces in real-time for the portrait crop's subject tracking. This processing happens entirely on-device using Apple's built-in machine learning models. No facial data is stored, recorded, or transmitted. Face detection results are used only to position the crop window and are discarded immediately after each frame.
Bothways stores your preferences (resolution, frame rate, file format, camera selection, and overlay settings) using Apple's UserDefaults system. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. Temporary video files are created during recording in the app's sandboxed container and are cleaned up automatically.
Bothways uses no third-party SDKs, analytics services, advertising frameworks, or cloud services. There are no third parties involved in any aspect of the app's operation.
Bothways does not collect any data from any user, including children. The app is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable content.
If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Given that Bothways collects no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
